     ANIMATION

What is an animated film?

It is defined as "a motion picture that is made from a series of drawings, computer graphics, or photographs of inanimate objects (such as puppets) and that simulates movement by slight progressive changes in each frame." In today's time, animated movies are generally made using CGI (computer generated imagery). It saves a lot of production time and budget as compared to drawing and animating each frame. Although animated films are largely targeted at children, they can appeal to a large demographic, with some films embedded with messages for adults, such as "Grave of the Fireflies (1988)"

Animations vs Cartoons -

They both make use of moving images, but they serve different purposes. Animation can be realistic or abstract, delivering all ranges of messages, while cartoons are generally centered around humor and expression. Cartoons are mainly short films and cartoons with anthropomorphized animals, directly targeted at children, whereas animation is for a large age demographic.

What can you expect with an animated film?

Animated films always deliver a heartfelt message, usually commenting on social situations and prevalent issues. They are able to create whole fantastical worlds and characters that could not be brought to life in a live action film.
